Swap events are community events where people can exchange clothes, books, toys, decorative items, plants, vegetables (including seeds and seedlings, depends on the time of the year) and other items they no longer use or have in abundance for something they might need and will use. These events are a great opportunity to activate seniors, to bring local community together in an inclusive and bottom-up approach, and – last but not least – contribute to climate change fight by enabling exchanging rather than buying new products.
A popular Slovenian swapping initiative Zelemenjava (crop swap) is presented as an example of good practice, with guidelines and tips on how to organize, promote and implement this kind of event.
