Celebrating the European Carers Day

European Carers Day is celebrated every year on the 6th of October.

Caring for loved ones is a noble and vital role that millions of individuals undertake every day. However, this responsibility often comes with challenges that can impact not only the carers’ own well-being but also their ability to maintain a fulfilling work-life-care balance.

This year’s campaign by Eurocarers, the European network representing informal carers, is dedicated to raising awareness about the crucial need for work-life-care balance for carers across Europe. Every individual, regardless of their caring responsibilities, deserves the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life.

Main messages:

  • Carers are the backbone of our society. It is time to recognize their contributions and support them in achieving a healthy work-life-care balance!
  • Balancing work and care should not mean choosing between a paycheck and your loved ones. Support work-life-care balance for all!

Anton Trstenjak Institute is a member of Eurocarers and every year joins 6th of October day with a campaign in various Slovenian towns. Volunteers presented materials – leaflets and posters – to wider audience in their local community, thus raising awareness about the importance and noble work of family carers. Some of them introduced this issue at local TV or radio stations.
