European grandparents for climate

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
“We promote small changes in our everyday behavior that can make a big difference – for a greener, healthier and liveable future for our children and grandchildren.”

The European Grandparents for Climate is a coalition of national organizations of senior citizens which work closely with many pro-climate organizations in their respective countries.

Pro climate activists are worried about the world we are leaving to future generations and therefore support young people in their demand for a sustainable future; they understand that solving the effects of our man-made climate crisis needs an international and multilevel effort. Social and intergenerational climate justice are crucial aspects in this process. They put pressure on politicians, decision makers and industrial leaders, both in the EU and in their home countries, to implement the Paris Agreement, the Green Deal to improve the well-being and health of citizens and our planet. They take part in protest marches, talk to relevant politicians, write comments for media, organize workshops and lectures etc.

As fighting for the future of our planet is a common goal, their activism could serve as an example and inspiration for seniors in other countries to get organized and start a “grandparents and seniors for climate” group and start their fight.

This civil and politically independent initiative is self-organized in the following European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland.
