Who said that volunteers should retire?

Volunteerism is one of the main actions of offering to others without the obligation or the expectance to be paid. Many people, especially young ones, volunteer in NGOs and causes they are interested in in order to help and make the world a better place. Yet, who said that seniors cannot be also volunteers?

In fact, there is no limitation on participating for free in any cause when people are over the age of 50. More specifically, seniors can volunteer at a national level, but also internationally. Below, some examples are demonstrated in order to highlight the need and importance of seniors to be active citizens in today’s world:

  • International Volunteer HQ: volunteering opportunities, especially in South America, in the field of education, support on construction projects, NGO initiatives, wildlife conservation projects. More information here.
  • Grown-Up Specials by ProjectsAbroad: in this project, people over the age of 50 can share their specialty or skills in their field of expertise, or volunteer in already established initiative such as conservation and community work in Africa and South America, childcarevolunteering or construction work. More information here.
  • 50+ volunteering by GoEco: it offers numerous opportunities in many destinations related to education, wildlife and marine conservations, as well as community aid. More information here.

It is important to understand then, that age is not a limit, in many sectors and aspects of life, and volunteerism is not an exception. Make the world a better place for you and the future generations!
