The story of Paul Tasner, the man who, instead of retiring, built his career from scratch.

In 2009, Paul Tasner, at the age of 64, was fired from his job, as a director of operations at a consumer products company in San Francisco. After working for 40 years for others, he found it really difficult to find a new job, and retirement was not considered as an option for him. He decided that he wanted to build something on his own, and at the same time, do something good about the environment.
Two years later, he developed his own business, PulpWorks Inc, which is a sustainability solutions company focused on creating viable molded fiber substitutes for plastic by utilizing paper and agricultural waste. For him, this process was very meaningful because he was helping the environment by replacing the single-use plastic packaging, and he was leaving to the future generations, his grandchildren among others, a better place to live.
In one of his talks, he focuses on the fact that creating your own company, especially in this age, can be challenging, as people with more knowledge or younger with really good knowledge in technology may be discouraging and intimidating. However, he highlights the fact that this job has been the most rewarding and meaningful during his 40 years of experience in the labour market.
